A wing tek is a self drilling screw designed to fix timber to metal. The small wings above the drill tip cut a wide pilot hole though the timber this stops the wood from climbing on the timber as the drill tip cuts the steel. When the wings hit the steel they shear of and cut a tight thread into the metal, and the head countersinks nicely.
